What Is Reiki and How Does It Work

Invisible energy? Hands hovering over the body? Healing from thousands of miles away?

I understand why Reiki can sound a little mysterious!

But at its heart, Reiki is a gentle Japanese healing practice based on the belief that universal life force energy flows through all living beings.

Three Things Worth Knowing About Reiki

1. Reiki isn’t limited by distance

Traditionally offered through gentle touch, Reiki can also be practised remotely. Within Reiki’s spiritual framework, energy isn’t considered bound by geography. This is how I work with clients across the world.

2. Reiki has its own divine intelligence

This is something I love about Reiki. I believe the energy flows where energetic support is needed, rather than simply where we assume the problem lies.

Someone may come to me with a headache, for instance, but I wouldn’t presume that the energetic imbalance is necessarily where the discomfort is felt. Medical causes, of course, are for doctors to determine.

3. Changes aren’t always dramatic

Some clients have described feeling calmer, sleeping better or finding greater clarity in their lives. Others notice subtler changes, such as becoming more mindful of their diet, exercise or everyday choices.

These are personal experiences, not promised results.

Is Reiki for You?

People explore Reiki for many reasons: stress, grief, relationships, emotional patterns, life transitions or simply spiritual curiosity.

Reiki is a complementary spiritual practice, not a replacement for medical or mental health care.

And no, you don’t need to understand everything about energy healing before exploring it.

Sometimes curiosity is enough.

If you’re wondering whether Reiki is right for you, we can always start with a short consultation. No pressure, just a conversation.

Not Sure Where to Begin?

Most people who write to me don’t know if they need Reiki, a past-life session, or something else — and that’s alright.

A short paid consultation gives us time to talk through what’s going on for you, so we can agree on the most useful next step before you commit to a particular session.
